Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the personal, non-commercial Google Drive sync utilities described on our homepage — Alpha Google Drive Sync Tool and Beta Google Drive Sync Tool — access, use, and store data from Google Accounts. These tools are built and operated solely by members of the household for their own personal file backup purposes. They are not offered publicly, are not commercial products, and are not made available to any user outside our household.
What data we access
Each tool connects, via Google's OAuth authorization flow, only to the Google Drive account of the household member who set it up. Specifically:
- We request read/write/delete access to Google Drive files and metadata (file names, folder structure, and file contents) belonging to that same Google Account.
- We do not request access to Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google service.
- We do not request the ability to modify, delete, or share files in Google Drive.
How we use the data
Data retrieved from Google Drive is used exclusively to create a local, offline backup copy of that Drive account's files on a private, household-owned storage device. The synced files are used only for personal backup and recovery purposes.
How we store and protect the data
- Synced files are stored on privately owned and controlled hardware within our household network.
- OAuth access tokens are stored locally on the household member's own device and are never transmitted to or stored on any third-party server.
- We do not upload, mirror, or otherwise transmit any synced Google Drive data to any third party, cloud service, or external server.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose any Google user data to any third party for any purpose, including advertising. Data accessed through these tools is used solely by the household member who owns the connected Google Account.
Data retention and deletion
Local backup copies are retained for as long as the household member finds them useful and may be deleted at any time by simply removing the local backup files. Revoking the tool's access at Google Account permissions immediately stops all further access to that Google Account.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If how these tools access or use Google account data changes, this page will be updated accordingly, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
